Subject: addiction

Comment: Thank goodness! I thought I was the only one who feels she is addicted to crocheting...my day doesn't feel complete unless I've worked on my current afghan. Thanks for a great site!

Subject: my passion

Comment: My husband's grandmother taught me how to crochet. I don't know if it was harder for me to learn or her to teach it but I got it. Now I can't go to a craft store without buying yarn. I can't go online without finding projects I want to make. I have used about a ream of paper printing patterns. I enjoy making scarves and hats to match. I have made some fridgies and some flowers of all sizes. I take a project to work everyday. When riding in the car I have a project. I have taught a few friends who wanted to learn and they are going to town with it too. I am enjoying my addiction/passion.

Comment: Hi all!! I love to crochet. I was taught by the lady who was my babysitter when I was a baby. I now make all kinds of things and have started my own business "A Stitch and A Prayer". I am trying to teach my niece how to crochet and my daughter.

Subject: crocheting

Comment: I was searching for a hat pattern and found this site, Thanks so much for all the wonderfull patterns. I've been crocheting since I was a child, my mom showed me a simple chain just using my fingers then years later I slowly taught myself how to read patterns and asked my mom for help when I got stuck. I've made afghans, hats, doilies, baby items, snowflakes, angels...you name it!! I've given them mostly as gifts and always they are appreciated. These days it's unusual for someone to take the time and effort to make something, it's so easy to go and buy it ready made, I think everyone appreciates something made by you!! To all those beginning crocheters, keep trying, this is something that will stay wih you for your whole life!!! Happy crocheting!!! Lisa

Subject: Love crochet!

Comment: I learned to crochet when I was young from my aunt. She got me started, then when I wanted to learn some new stitches, gave me a magazine with all of the stitches in the back, telling me that I didn't need her, I could figure it out myself. That was all the boost I needed! Been hooking ever since, thanks to her. Now as an adult, I remember her words and know that there won't be anything too difficult for me to tackle. My aunt has been gone for several years, but her legacy to me lives on in hours of wonderful, creative, stress-relieving crochet!

Comment: Actually, i'm a nigerian 13 year old boy, but i love crochet seriously. Recently we had a club display stuff in school, and i had to go in front of all the students crocheting. People call me all sorts of names (g*y) and so on, but i'm TOO ADDICTED to let all that stop me. I've recently been into a lot of mufflers, and they sell very well, though i'm still trying to get the hang of reading patterns. CROCHET IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU NEVER FORGET THE PERSON WHO TAUGHT YOU TO CROCHET (I WAS TAUGHT BY MY HOUSEMAID). GET SOMEONE HOOKED TODAY!!!

Comment: I just recently learned to crochet. I taught myself because I loved one of the clover edgings. It turned out to be so easy, now I'm not afraid to tackle any project. Once I got a hard to do project under my belt I had confidence to do anything. I just wish I picked up this wonderful craft 20 years ago.

Subject: Hooked on Crochet!

Comment: I too had struggled with learning how to crochet..being a lefty, even as a child the only thing I could pick up was the foundation chain.

Then I bought "I tought myself to crochet" at Wal Mart....it REALLY helped....that and some helpful ladies from CrochetPartners.org I was off and running!

Happily Hooking in MI!

Subject: My story...

Comment: My mom tried to teach me to crochet probably 20 times when I was young, but I just couldn't get it. I gave her baby blankets away to all my friends. Last year, one of my best friends became pregnant with twins. Mom was out of blankets, so I decided to learn. I bought myself the "I taught myself to crochet" book from Wal-Mart. It took me about 3 tries per stitch to get it. I got the blankets dome in time, and now I am addicted! I have about 15 projects to give away for Christmas this year. I recently bought a pair of knitting needles. I'm going to let Mom teach me this time.

Subject: love it love it love it!

Comment: I learned to crochet when I was nine years old. My mother had bought an instruction book, and was trying to learn. We were at a laundromat, and I picked it up and starting trying to make a chain stitch when she had become busy or discouraged with it.My dad is a minister, so when we had went on mission trips, there was a lady that we had spent sunday afternoon with who was working on an afghan stitched afghan. She was very patient with me, and slowly I learned. before long I spent every dime I had on yarn and supplies. I am almost 40 years old, and would love to become an instructor in this art. My family never sees me without a crochet project in my lap, whether it be a doily or an afghan. They all think of me as the Crochet Nut, and that's just fine. When Hurricane Rita was on its way towards us, I told my entire family that as long as I had yarn, my patterns, and a bottle of water, I was fine........of course they all had a good laugh. I am a registed/certified pharmacy technician...so instead of teaching at a school....i don't want to turn my passion for crochet into a career....i prefer to teach couch-side to friends, and family. So, all you folks out there, keep on stitching, grinning, and relaxing, it's good for ya!!!

Subject: My Love of Crochet...

Comment: I am an almost 39 year-old stay at home mom to two boys (and wife for 10 years!) and I learned a basic chain stitch from my mother when I was 10.
Then a family friend taught me a granny square...the rest is history...my evenings (after hubby and kids are asleep) are spent relaxing with hook in hand and yarn running through my fingers. I don't know what I'd do without crochet. I express myself in so many ways, sometimes to others' patterns and sometimes to stuff I just make up as I go along...those are the most exciting projects to make. I generally used to make baby shower gifts (sweater sets, layettes and blankets) and rarely have made anything for myself. My kids have "blankies" I made them, and so do all of my friends' kids. People tell me that the blankets I crochet turn out to be their kids favorite blankets and they can't go to sleep (or anywhere else for that matter) without them. I like to think that it is the love that I put into them that makes them that special. I recently began selling my crochet poncho sets on ebay and things are going well (most of the time). I'm currently working on a web journal and photo hosting site so I can share my finished projects with fellow crocheters...I'm glad that crochet isn't just for "grannies" any more! There are so many yarns out there I tell my husband that he should be glad its my only addiction (I really can get out of hand when I find a new yarn!). My most recent exciting moment came when I received a FREE ball of Bernat Disco in this awesome electric blue...its like fun fur with "bling"...I edged a shrug and hat with it...it turned out so cute! I am a true "yarnaholic" but I am not ashamed to admit it. Happy Hooking Ladies (and Gentlemen, too). I'm off to start on another project...

Subject: I love crocheting!!!!

Comment: I started crocheting a few years ago, making dresses for my music-box doll. I'm 15 now, and I feel lost if I have nothing to crochet! I still love making doll dresses for my younger sisters' dolls, but anything else if just as fun to make as well! I love this site!!!!
