Subject: Maddy's Granny's

Comment: Our church group started a club to crochet slippers , hats and small stuffed animals for the the children with cancer and severe deseases to choose from at Snt Jude in Springfield MO. This started with my grand daughter asking for slippers and hats when she was in Michigan UniversetyMots childrens wing for Lukemia transplant. She started asking for more. Than I found out she was passing them out ot other children on the unit. Then I had to ask for help freinds at church and Madison saw our picture and she said look at all my granny's. Thats how Maddy's Granny's started. But I would like to chalange all Grandmas to contribute to the childrens hospitals across the nation. You will never know what a soft pair of slippers or socks and a hat will do for a child who has just been through a horrid procedure or treatment. Or a special litte friend to hang onto when they are scared. Please check with yousr hospital because they have to use soft yarn and be produced in a clean eviroment as these kids have their imune system destroyed and built up again.

Comment: I started crochet at the age of 8 and so far have made lots of pieces and 1 pattern, and it's only been 1 year! If you're a newcomer at crochet, I have one tip: Always keep going, even if it gets tough. I learned the hard way, nd I don't want anyone else learning that the way I did. Good Luck!

Comment: I learned it from my mother at age 7. It has done me good. It is good. And yes, though I'm only 11, I will be sure that I will go on doing it as long as I can. I have fair skills, and it has helped me with my piano. Excercise for fingers.

It is wonderful. crochet is wonderful.

Subject: What crochet had done for me

Comment: I have systemic lupus before I started Crotcheing my hands would hurt sooo bad! I started Crotcheiing and it made my fingers stronger sort of like what exercise does for the body. I had a terrible year with my relationship that I almost turned to antidepressants. I started praying and my 18 year old daughter started teaching me the basics and boy did I catch on! I don't sit up now I worry about my lupus pains because I am turning all that pain into something beautiful it even helps with bad relationships because now I don't have to cry and listen I don't hear a word. I love Crotcheiing it is like medicine to the soul. I love love love it. I will never forget the day my beautiful daughter saved my life from an emotional and painful roller coaster with some yarn and a needle.

Subject: crochet life story

Comment: I absolutely love to crochet. I learned from my mother, who hasnt crocheted in about 10 years, when I was 6 or 7 and ever since then I have been crocheting. I am now 18 and am trying to start my own handmade clothes line. I also am trying to make a few crochet patterns so that I may sell some books. Most of the stuff I know today, I had to teach myself. My mother only taught me how to make a chain and the sc st. One of my grandma's friends taught me how to make the granny square and then I took off from there. I make just about everything, but socks..lol.. I haven't got tge hang of that yet. Hopwfully one day I will, but I LOVE to crochet, and hopefully I will continue to, and my dreams for my own business will come true.

Comment: This is one of the home arts that I love to see that is carried from one generation to another generation. My grandmother taught me and I have taught both my son and daughter. I can't wait to teach my grand-daughter.

Subject: Learn to read the patterns

Comment: I am 63 years old and just recently I began to read the simple crochet patterns. I would suggest that if you love this craft, learn all you can about the craft. Reading and executing the patterns will broaden your skills, creations and you will have fun with new designs. I am amazed at what I learned and very proud that I can still produce something that is beautiful and useful. Share your talents with others and the young - because your experience is your gift.
Crocheting is very relaxing too. Abundant blessings to all.
